Annual Report reviews a striking period of change

To read the annual report, please request it from the National Office. Hard copy booklets and PDF versions are both available.

“The past 25-year chapter has come to a close and as we survey the New Zealand community’s progress over that quarter of a century since Ridván 1996, we are struck by the scale of the changes that have taken place,” writes the National Spiritual Assembly in its Annual Report for 177 B.E.

National Convention delegates received the report as a resource for preparing for the consultations, and it is now available to the friends generally. Those who would like to receive it by email (PDF), or in hard copy, please request it from the Bahá’í National Office (nationaloffice@bahai.org.nz).

With 177 B.E. being the last year of a Five Year Plan — which was itself the last Plan of a series of plans spanning 25 years — the Annual Report offers a sense of recent achievements as the triumphal conclusion of years of exertions, and of the rich possibilities that the next series of Plans portend.

The report begins with an overview from the National Spiritual Assembly, outlining its plans, hopes, cares and challenges for the Cause in Aotearoa New Zealand. The present situation is described as “a rapidly evolving, demanding, and very exciting phase of the Formative Age of the Faith.” The National Assembly affirms that our community enters the next phase of development strengthened by the capabilities of the two Regional Councils, and a dynamic institute process in which youth play a leading part. Progress over the past five years includes a virtual doubling of core activities and study circles; along with an approximate trebling of home visits and devotional meetings.

The contents of the report are:

  • Overview from the National Spiritual Assembly

  • Interrelated Areas of Endeavour

  • Key Achievements (Major activities and achievements in the context of the Plan 2016-2021)

  • National Statistics Overview

  • Financial Report

  • Reports from institutions and Agencies (The most important of these are the reports of the two Regional Councils, focusing on processes of growth)

The Annual Report is a valuable source of insight into the progress of the Faith in Aotearoa, enhanced by colourful photographs and charts. A few sample photos appear below. (Click on a photo to enlarge it.)
