Observing Bahá’í Holy Days - letters for students and employees

As we commence the 2024 working year, it is essential for Bahá’í employees and students to plan ahead for the appropriate observance of our sacred Holy Days. In recognition of the significance of these special occasions, when Bahá’ís are encouraged as much as possible to suspend work and school, we share these informative letters addressed to employers and educational institutions, requesting time off to observe Bahá’í Holy Days.

The Bahá’í Faith places great importance on the observance of these Holy Days, which serve as moments of reflection, prayer, and community celebration. To assist the friends in honouring these sacred occasions, the National Assembly provides formal letters with a list of Holy Days for the year 2024 along with explanations of their collective significance. These resources can be used by Bahá’í employees and students to communicate effectively with their employers and educators while adhering to the laws of our Faith.

The letters serve as a practical resource, but also help to foster understanding and cooperation between Bahá’ís and their respective institutions. It is hoped that these letters will contribute to a harmonious balance between spiritual observance and professional or academic responsibilities, and that these resources will enhance the ease with which our community can observe the Holy Days and strengthen the bonds of unity that characterise our global Bahá’í family.
