Books to inspire as we celebrate the Birth of the Báb
This year, as part of the Twin Holy Days, the Birth of the Báb will be celebrated on from sunset on Friday 1 November to sunset on Saturday November 2nd, a sacred occasion marking the arrival of the Herald of the Bahá'í Faith. In honour of this special day, we are pleased to highlight a selection of books available for purchase from the Bahá'í Bookshop that explore the life and mission of the Báb. These include historical accounts and inspiring storybooks for children, offering readers of all ages a deeper understanding of His remarkable station and the impact of His Revelation.
Immortal Youth
Immortal Youth is a unique and beautiful volume collecting some of the sacred and authoritative texts of the Faith concerning the Báb’s life and station. The book is divided into sections covering the birth, declaration, martyrdom, and station of the Báb, followed by a selection of His own prayers and meditations. It includes Writings of Bahá’u’lláh and the Báb as well as extracts from the writings and recorded utterances of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and from the works of Shoghi Effendi.
Journey to a Mountain
This is the thrilling story of the golden-domed Shrine of the Báb, which stands in exquisite garden terraces on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel.
For the first time the dramatic story of the establishment of the Shrine is told in detail. Never-before-seen photos and maps illustrate the often pulsating narrative.
Coronation on Carmel
Continuing the thrilling story of the Shrine of the Báb, this volume covers the building of the superstructure of the ‘Queen of Carmel’. A drama opens on Mount Carmel in Haifa in the Holy Land in 1922.
Sacred Stairway
Sacred Stairway is the final volume in a trilogy which tells the dramatic and inspiring story of the Shrine of the Báb in Haifa, Israel, from 1850 to 2001. Now the story moves on to describe the successful construction in the 1990s of a stairway with 19 garden terraces stretching one kilometre up the steep northern slopes of Mount Carmel.
The Lamp
This is the story of the Báb, a young Siyyid Who lived in Persia in the nineteenth century. The beauty and purity of His short life shine out amid the dark corruption of the times. When He said that He was the Promised One Who had come to renew religion and prepare the way for One greater than Himself Whose teachings would bring peace to the world, His message spread like wildfire across the land, awakening the hearts of people everywhere.
This is a great book for children and junior youth to learn about the life of the Báb.
