Register Now: New Zealand Bahá’í Summer Schools, 176 B.E.
The National Spiritual Assembly is delighted to announce that the keynote speaker for the Bahá'í Summer Schools is Dr Firaydoun Javaheri. Elected to the Universal House of Justice in 2003, Dr Javaheri served the international governing body of the Bahá’í Faith for 15 years.
Dr. Firaydoun Javaheri
Dr Javaheri, who was born in Iran, holds a doctorate in agronomy. He was a pioneer to Africa for twenty-seven years – The Gambia then subsequently, Zambia — where he was Chief Technical Adviser for the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. Dr Javaheri and his wife, Mrs Vida Javaheri, played a significant role in the area of social and economic development, helping to establish the Banani International Secondary School in Zambia. Dr Javaheri was appointed to the Continental Board of Counsellors for Africa in 1995 after serving for 19 years as a member of its Auxiliary Board. He was appointed a Counsellor member of the International Teaching Centre in the Holy Land from 1998 to 2003, followed by his service on the Supreme Institution, from which he retired just prior to the International Bahá’í Convention in 2018. Dr and Mrs Javaheri currently live in Toronto, Canada, and travel extensively. We are privileged to have them at our summer schools.
The theme of Dr Javaheri’s talks will be “Towards an Ever-Advancing Civilisation”. We are also delighted that Mrs Vida Javaheri, who served as a Pilgrim Guide in the Holy Land, will be presenting one plenary session on pilgrimage at each summer school. Further details of the programme will be added to the summer school websites when they are finalised.
We encourage early registration. This also assists the logistics committees to cater to the needs of the participants.
