Members of the National Spiritual Assembly for 177 B.E.
A letter from the National Spiritual Assembly to the New Zealand Bahá’í community on 26 April 2020.
Dear Bahá’í Friends,
The National Spiritual Assembly conveys its heartfelt loving greetings to you all. We take the opportunity to share the results of the recent election of the National Spiritual Assembly for 177 B.E., which was conducted by very able tellers in an online voting process. Fifty-six of the 57 delegates were able to cast their vote, all voting was valid, and there were no tie-votes. This unusual online voting process was undertaken in light of the cancellation of the National Convention because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The members elected, in the order of votes received, are as follows:
Suzanne Mahon
Huti Watson
Vahid Qualls
Kim Te'o
Shiva Kolodner
Alan Wilcox
Sione Tu'itahi
James Lau
Marc Rivers
The National Spiritual Assembly offers its most loving appreciation to outgoing member, Dr Shirin Foroughian, who will shortly be moving to the United States. Her eight years of dedicated service on this institution, five as Secretary of the National Spiritual Assembly, have been carried out in a self-sacrificing, gracious manner, for which we offer, on behalf of all the friends in Aotearoa, our heartfelt gratitude, as we wish her well for her new life with her husband in New York city.
We trust the friends will offer your prayers that the National Assembly may be divinely guided as it enters this new term of service to you all in this final year of the Five Year Plan.
With loving Bahá’í greetings,
NATIONAL SPIRITUAL ASSEMBLY
OF THE BAHÁ’ÍS OF NEW ZEALAND
