In a message to all National Spiritual Assemblies, dated 27 November 2025, the Universal House of Justice describes the rapid evolution of the institution of the trusteeship of Ḥuqúqu’lláh since the establishment of the International Board of Trustees in 2005. Among the developments it notes are the increase in the membership of the International Board from three to seven, the extension of terms of service for the International, National, and Regional Boards from three to five years, and the emergence of a worldwide network of National and Regional Boards, Trustees, and Representatives, supported by the Office of Ḥuqúqu’lláh in the Holy Land.
Given these developments, and the fact that there is no longer a Chief Trustee, the House of Justice states that members of National and Regional Boards, previously referred to as “Deputy Trustees,” will henceforth be known simply as “Trustees.”
