Opportunities to serve at the National Office
The National Spiritual Assembly is inviting expressions of interest from members of the Bahá’í community for service opportunities in the National Secretariat and the National Treasury at the New Zealand Bahá’í National Office in Newmarket, Auckland.
Administrative Secretary
The National Secretariat provides support for the National Spiritual Assembly. Among the competencies and skills required are:
A good understanding of the conceptual framework governing the current series of global Plans
Engagement with the associated community-building endeavours; such as the core activities
A willingness to engage in a systematic learning process with others
Sound administrative skills with attention to detail
This role requires various combinations of skills and qualities including:
English language ability at a high level – both written and oral;
A service minded approach to work;
Research acumen;
Computer literacy;
A positive manner; discretion and confidentiality;
Ability to collaborate closely with colleagues;
Ability to build capacity in others
It will be necessary to develop familiarity with the guidance of the Universal House of Justice on a wide range of subjects including the progress of the Plan, and to acquire a thorough knowledge of the policies of the National Spiritual Assembly. Our preference is for a person who can fulfill full-time hours, 40 hours per week, however the National Assembly will consider part-time arrangements on a case-by-case basis. Compensation, or remuneration, will be determined by agreement, according to need.
Accountant/Bookkeeper
The core accountabilities of the role are to prepare the monthly financial statements for the monthly meetings of the National Assembly and Regional Bahá'í Councils, and report on current month and year- to-date donations received and expenditure against budget. This role is also responsible for providing management reporting, tracking, budgets and forecasting to assist with ongoing financial management and planning.
Among the qualities and skills required are:
The highest standard of honesty, trustworthiness and rectitude of conduct
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Skills and experience in financial accounting and bookkeeping
High level of computer literacy
Sound administrative skills and experience
English language ability at a high level – both written and oral
Previous experience in working with the Charities Commission and/or Xero preferred but not required
A service minded approach to work
A positive manner; discretion and confidentiality
Ability to collaborate closely with colleagues
Engagement and understanding with current global plans and associated community-building endeavours, such as the core activities
A willingness to engage in a systematic learning process with others
