Service opportunities with North Island Regional Bahá’í Council

The North Island Regional Bahá’í Council is an institution of a special kind, “between the local and national levels,” charged with “carrying forward the teaching work and administering related affairs of a rapidly growing Bahá’í community”.

The Council is inviting expressions of interest from members of the Bahá’í community for three part-time service opportunities in its developing Regional Office.

The roles outlined in this advertisement would form part of the Regional Office’s Communication and Learning Team.

1.Correspondence Officer

Assess incoming and the preparation of outgoing correspondence for the Council. Quality control, dispatch and related administrative support — 10-15 hours, preferably volunteer

2.Learning and Media Officer

Facilitate the preparation and dissemination of learning, news and stories — written or audio-visual. Newsletters and social media posts — 10 hours, preferably volunteer

3.Strategy and Systems Officer

Help improve the functioning of the Council through the development or enhancement of Council strategy, systems and processes —10 hours, preferably volunteer

Among the characteristics desired from interested individuals are:

  • A good understanding of the conceptual framework governing the current series of global Plans, along with experience in the associated community-building endeavours;

  • A willingness to engage in a systematic learning process with others, to interact with others in a positive manner, and to help build capacity in others;

  • Sound administrative skills, including diligence, attention to detail, discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information, a high level of English language ability both written and oral, research acumen, and a willingness to collaborate with other institutions;

  • Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google’s office suite (familiarity with database, publishing, and accounting software would also be useful);

  • An ability to work to existing processes and systems as well as to develop new ones;

The roles outlined above presently constitute a growing 10 to 20 hour per week position with the potential need for longer hours when major projects require it and as the role develops. The Council may also be open to arrangements such as role sharing. The Council will consider applications from those living within and outside of Auckland who are able to work remotely via internet connection. The Council is inviting individuals to serve voluntarily, and a commitment for 1-2 years would be ideal. Remuneration can be determined by agreement, according to need.

Any believer who is interested in serving the North Island Regional Bahá’í Council in any of these roles is invited to provide their résumé, briefly noting professional and Bahá’í experiences and background, by:

  • email with the subject “Application for Regional Office Role - [your name]” to

    rbc-north@bahai.org.nz

  • post to North Island Regional Bahá’í Council, c/o Bahá’í National Office, PO Box 99373, Newmarket, Auckland 1149
