Service opportunity at House of Worship, Sydney

The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Australia has announced a wonderful opportunity for young people to engage in meaningful service at the Bahá'í National Centre based in the grounds of the House of Worship in Sydney. This unique programme invites youth between the ages of 18 and 30 to contribute to various essential roles in the precincts of the Mashriqu’l-Adhkár.

Participants in the programme will take on responsibilities such as guiding visitors, maintaining the beautiful gardens, and supporting the general upkeep of the House of Worship and its surrounding facilities. Beyond these practical tasks, volunteers will enjoy a supportive environment that includes regular collective study, mentorship, and moments of reflection and prayer with fellow participants.

A wonderful aspect of this programme is the chance to connect with like-minded youth from around the world who are similarly dedicated to service. Volunteers can choose to commit to a full year of service, though shorter stays are also possible. Onsite accommodation and a small volunteer allowance are provided by the National Spiritual Assembly of Australia.

For international participants, a special visa is available for those aged 18 to 30, allowing them to stay in Australia for up to one year. While the cost and application for the visa are the responsibility of the individual, the experience and fulfilment that come from such service make it a rewarding opportunity.

If you’d like to see what a day in the life of a participant looks like, the National Spiritual Assembly of Australia invites you to watch the following video shared by recent volunteers.

Young persons here in Aotearoa, who may be interested in this opportunity are welcome to apply at service.bahai.org.au. For additional questions or information, feel free to contact the Office of Personnel at the National Office in Australia via email at hr@bahai.org.au.

This call to service is a chance to cultivate lifelong friendships, deepen one’s understanding of community life in a new country, and contribute to the Faith in a unique way.
