Wellington cluster reaches the third milestone

The Regional Bahá’í Council of the North Island has announced that the Wellington cluster has reached the third milestone in its path of growth — a significant moment that marks the maturing strength and vitality of its community-building efforts.

In a letter dated 7 ‘Ilm 182 B.E./21 October 2025, the North Island Bahá’í Council shared this joyful news with all Local Spiritual Assemblies, Bahá’í Groups, and isolated believers across Te Ika-a-Māui. The achievement reflects devoted efforts by the friends and institutions throughout the Wellington cluster—Kapiti Coast, Hutt City, Porirua, Upper Hutt, and Wellington City—efforts underpinned by unity of vision, steadfastness, and a strong spirit of learning. This milestone signals that the community is learning to systematically accompany increasing numbers in service to humanity while building vibrant patterns of collective life grounded in spiritual principles. The letter states:

The friends serving the cluster, in consultation with the Counsellor, Auxiliary Board members, and the Local Spiritual Assemblies, have been able to identify a number of specific capacities being built which have demonstrated that the third milestone is being traversed:

  • The capacity to operate in a mode of learning;

  • The capacity to adapt to a substantial increase in complexity;

  • The capacity to sustain intense activity by a nucleus of friends in a growing number of settings;

  • The capacity to seek out receptivity within a distinct population;

  • The capacity to offer the courses of the training institute in a variety of settings with increasing levels of organisation;

  • The capacity to initiate social action at the grassroots.

As well as three centres of intensity in Paraparaumu, Karori and Naenae, there are now nuclei of friends working in several other settings in the cluster. The most recent Cluster Growth Profile from September shows 50 core activities engaging 339 participants, almost 40% of whom are from the wider community. 33 friends are facilitating regular educational activities across the cluster.
  The Council hopes that other communities may be encouraged by the fact that through study and application of the guidance of the Universal House of Justice Wellington cluster has moved along the continuum of growth, passing the third milestone. This achievement is especially noteworthy given the cluster’s complexity, encompassing five Local Spiritual Assemblies and a geographically widespread area.

The National Spiritual Assembly wrote to the friends in the Wellington cluster, expressing its deep joy and admiration for this achievement. The letter shares loving congratulations to all the institutions, agencies and friends of the cluster, encouraging them to continue advancing with faith, humility, and joy, and conveying an assurance of prayers.

The National Assembly also takes this opportunity to wholeheartedly express its loving appreciation for the support given to the cluster by the Regional Bahá’í Council over the years leading up to this landmark stage in Wellington cluster’s progression.
