Mishkín-Qalam documentary to be released online

A documentary exploring the life, art and legacy of renowned Bahá’í calligrapher Mishkín-Qalam is set to be released worldwide online on 11 November 2026.

The 55-minute documentary, Mishkín-Qalam, has been produced by descendants of Mishkín-Qalam and traces aspects of his life, artistic legacy and devotion to the Bahá’í Faith. The film incorporates historical sites, interviews, animated sequences, an original soundtrack and examples of Mishkín-Qalam’s calligraphic works.

Mishkín-Qalam spent many years of his life in Cyprus, and a number of scenes filmed on the island are included in the documentary. Approval for the production was obtained from the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Cyprus before filming began.

Alongside the story of Mishkín-Qalam, the documentary explores themes including art in exile, the relationship between art and spirituality, personal integrity, steadfastness, sacrifice, creativity and resilience.

The film has received a number of awards and recognitions at international film festivals, including five Best Documentary awards, as well as recognition for its original soundtrack.

Mishkín-Qalam will be available online from 11 November 2026, with both English and Persian versions having been produced. The film will be available to rent for AUD$5.99 or purchase for AUD$15.99.
