Plan now for Week of Prayer for World Peace 2025
For over fifty years, the Week of Prayer for World Peace has been a global invitation for people of all faiths—and those of no particular faith—to join together in reflection and prayer for peace. This year’s Week will be observed from 13–20 October 2025.
An invitation to Bahá’í communities
In Aotearoa, the Bahá’í community has embraced this initiative for many years. The Week provides a special opportunity for Bahá’ís, families, and communities to hold devotional gatherings in homes, neighbourhoods, or in larger settings—opening our doors to friends, neighbours, and colleagues to share in prayer and meaningful conversation.
The Week of Prayer for World Peace can also serve as an avenue to invite others into the study of Ruhi Book 1: Reflections on the Life of the Spirit, exploring together the purpose and power of prayer.
Resources for 2025
This year’s 12-page prayer resource has been prepared by the UK organising committee. It offers a wide selection of prayers, poems, and reflections from many traditions—including the Bahá’í Faith—arranged for each day of the Week. The theme is “Continuing to pray with hope in a troubled world.”
The booklet can be downloaded freely here or at the button below this article. It is made available to be printed for personal or community use.
Daily video prayers from different traditions and countries will be shared online at www.interfaithalignment.org/wpwp.
Readings will also be posted to the Week of Prayer for World Peace Facebook page.
A spirit of unity
Leaders from various faiths and the founders of the Week wrote in 1974:
“In the turmoil of a world increasingly dominated by violence and characterised by bewilderment and confusion created by the apparent impotence of man to alleviate suffering caused by injustice except by more recourse to violence, it seems to us that an unprecedented spiritual initiative is urgently required. We therefore wish to commend the idea of the World Week of Prayer for Peace.”
Over fifty years later, their words remain as relevant as ever. We continue to pray with hope for the peace that our world is so lacking, and the simple act of coming together in prayer helps to cultivate unity, empathy, and hope in a fractured world.
Friends are warmly encouraged to begin preparing now, inviting others into spaces of prayer and reflection during the Week of Prayer for World Peace.
